HOA communication with a channel for every building

Board announcements, buildings and committees in one private place.

What is Groupanda for an HOA?

For a homeowners association (HOA), Groupanda, a workspace for private communities, works as an HOA app for the board and residents. An HOA or condo association runs one group. Board news goes to Announcements, the owner adds a channel per building and committee, and residents join by link or by email. Only members see the conversations. Free at any size.

  • No time limit on the free plan
  • Any number of residents
  • Browser, iOS and Android apps
  • Interface in 8 languages

What should an HOA look for in a communication app?

A homeowners association or condo association is often a volunteer board, the residents of several buildings or streets and a few committees. An HOA communication app has to keep board notices apart from neighbor talk.

  • One place for board notices

In Groupanda, the owner decides who posts in the Announcements channel, so board notices are not buried in conversation.

  • A channel for each building and committee

Channels are added by the owner, one per building or committee, and there is no cap on how many.

  • Invitations by link or by email

Residents join through the group's invite link, or the owner or an admin invites them by email. If the group requires approval, one of them accepts each request.

  • Free at any size

Groupanda's free plan has no member limit and never expires, and Groupanda adds no charge per resident.

Sounds good. The old bench could move into the shade.

Announcements from the board

A new Groupanda group comes with an Announcements channel where only the owner posts at first. Letting the admins post puts the whole board in one channel. The owner and admins can pin a notice, which residents find under the Pinned tab. Each resident picks, per channel, which messages notify them.

A channel for each building and committee

Building B, the pool and the landscaping committee each talk in a channel of their own. Each of these channels is open to every member. Residents can post up to 10 photos at once, a document of up to 10 MB or a voice message of up to 2 minutes, and answer a message by quoting it.

Meeting minutes in the Docs tab

Before a meeting, the board can create an event, and residents answer Going or Can't go. Afterward, the board posts the minutes in Announcements as a document of up to 10 MB and can pin the message. The channel's Docs tab lists every document shared there.

The board as owner and admins

Groupanda has three roles: one owner, admins and members. The board chair can be the owner and other board members admins, who mute or ban members, remove messages and read every channel. Residents post wherever the owner lets everyone post.

How do residents join the HOA group?

The owner picks one of three ways in: open, invite-only through the link, or approval required. With approval, each request goes to the owner and the admins, and either can accept or reject it. Only open groups appear in Groupanda search. Only the owner sees the invite link. It opens Groupanda in the browser, where new members sign up with an email address and a phone number. The owner or an admin can also invite residents by email, up to 200 addresses at a time.

What does Groupanda cost an HOA?

An HOA or condo association group runs on the free plan at no cost, whatever its size and for as long as it exists. No card is needed to sign up or create a group, and Groupanda has no monthly or per-member fee.

Questions HOA boards ask

Is there a free HOA communication app?

Groupanda, a workspace for private communities, is free for every group. A homeowners or condo association can keep its group on the free plan with no cap on residents and no end date. Signing up and creating the group take no card, and Groupanda has no monthly fee and no fee per member.

What is a good way for an HOA board to communicate with residents?

The board can use the Announcements channel of its Groupanda group. Only the owner posts there at first, and admins can be allowed to post too. A notice pinned by the owner or an admin stays under the channel's Pinned tab. Residents choose per channel: every message, only mentions of their name, or nothing. For the annual meeting or a cleanup day, the board can create an event. Residents who answered Going get a reminder 24 hours and 1 hour before it starts.

Where can residents find the minutes of a board meeting?

In the channel where the board shared them, usually Announcements, as a document the board can pin. The channel's Docs tab in Groupanda lists the documents shared there.

Can the board decide who joins the HOA group?

Yes. A Groupanda group can require approval: the invite link sends a request to join, and the owner or an admin accepts or rejects it. Such a group is not listed in Groupanda search, and only members see its conversations.

Do residents need to install an app?

No. The invite link opens the group in a browser, and the Groupanda apps for iOS and Android are optional. Each member creates an account with an email address and a phone number.
